The 11th Elatia Music Festival it is expected to host thousands of people during the four days of August 1-4, while great artists will parade from the stage.
The Elatia Youth Association promises four magical days in nature and four dreamy nights with music. After all, the motto “Just a little more dream” is no coincidence. 15 different artists will take to the stage that will be set up in the specially designed area, in Platanias. Artists representing every field of music are expected to become one with the gathered crowd and welcome August in the most beautiful way. The organizers promise, campers and non-campers, to become a great company, creating for those who attend images that will remain deeply etched in their memory.
11th Elatia Music Festival: The program of concerts
On the first night, Hummings, Konstantis Pistiolis, Social Waste and Yiannis Angelakas&100 °C will take the stage. On the second night, Locomondo, Alcinoos Ioannidis and Matoula Zamani take over. On the third night, Panos Vlachos, Melina Kana, Alexandros Ktistakis and Yiannis Haroulis will take the stage. The four days of the Festival will close with Dimitra Moraitis, Novel 729, Natasa Bofiliou and Iulia Karapatakis.
Additional activities
A four-day stay in Elateia Fthiotida, however, does not only mean a musical feast. Those who attend the town of Fthiotida can enjoy outdoor activities. In particular, the area is suitable for hiking in the mountains as well as for walking at a more intense pace for those who do not want to miss a day of their exercise. In addition, the Elatia Youth Association in collaboration with the Elatia Motorcycle Association organizes MotoCross rides on a specially designed track. Finally, we must not forget the historical importance of the place as Elatea, in ancient times, was the center of Greece.
A few words regarding Ancient Elatea
Because of its location, it developed into the most important city of Lokre and later of Phokea, when it became part of the Phocian Commonwealth. According to the tradition mentioned by the traveler Pausanias, Elateia got its name from the mythical king Elatos, son of Arcada.
In 374 BC the Theban general Pelopidas besieged Elateia with the aim of subduing the Phocians and controlling the passage from his ally Thessaly to Boeotia. The defense of the Phocian city was undertaken by the general Onomarchos and managed to save the city.
In 346 BC Elateia was occupied by Philip’s Macedonians. Philip fortified Elateia and used it as his base for the campaign once morest the cities of central Greece. After the departure of the Macedonians, Elateia regained the dominant role it had in ancient Phocis. According to the reports of Pausanias, Elateia continued to be an important city in the region during the Roman era.
