US will have to lift sanctions after July 28, says Maduro

Nicolás Maduro is confident that, following the elections on July 28, direct dialogue will arise between his government and that of the United States for the subsequent lifting of sanctions.

“With the strength that this people will show following the elections on July 28, we will send a powerful message to the world and we will give birth to the miracle of a direct dialogue with the US and they will have to lift the sanctions.“, he said during his weekly program Con Maduro +.

The socialist leader remains hopeful, even though the Biden administration has reiterated that sanctions will remain in place unless Maduro makes significant changes.

He stressed that the sanctions also affect the economy of the Americans: “For them (the US government) the sanctions are a shot in the foot, because of the impact that they represent for their economy,” he explained. “But we have already learned and now they will not be able to stop us, Venezuela is going big, with its own methods, creating our own innovations and our technology and their sanctions will be useless elements, because we have already achieved the deployment of the development of the economy.”

The president also referred to the five consensuses built as a “response to the spirituality and deep patriotism of an entire country”:

1. First, to seek economic stability, growth of the real economy, and to build a strengthened exchange rate system and stabilise it. Slow down hyperinflation.
2. The rejection of the criminal sanctions imposed on the country is 84%, according to all polls. The lifting of unilateral coercive measures is demanded.
3. The need to preserve peace, internal stability, and promote the values ​​of love and solidarity. I reject fascism, hatred and intolerance.
4. Return to the welfare state and social equality that we had, regarding salaries, social security, rescue the social welfare state that we have already built.
5. Defense of Essequibo: Venezuela must strengthen its historical and legal rights to recover Essequibo. To do so, it is necessary to unite moral and spiritual strength with political strength.
