Rhys’ grand slam in Brewers’ triumph

Rhys Hoskins gave Milwaukee the lead for good with a grand slam during a five-run sixth inning and the Brewers beat Texas 6-3 to end the Rangers’ four-game winning streak.

Cuban baseball player Adolis García hit a home run for the Rangers.

Milwaukee took a serious toll on the Rangers’ bullpen following Michael Lorenzen held the Brewers scoreless through the first four innings.

The Brewers’ Jackson Chourio came home on Lorenzen’s wild pitch with two outs in the fifth inning to snap the Rangers’ 26-inning scoreless streak.

Milwaukee trailed 3-1 when William Contreras led off the sixth with a double to retire Lorenzen. The Rangers sent in Jacob Latz, who hadn’t allowed a run in eight relief appearances this month.

Latz (2-2) allowed three runs, two hits and two walks without recording an out.

STARTER James Paxton combined with four relievers on five-hit work in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 3-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

The Los Angeles team was blanked by Garrett Crochet, but hurt the shaky Chicago bullpen with three runs. The NL West leaders won for the sixth time in eight games.

Paxton struck out six while working five innings of three-hit ball. The left-hander is 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA in his last three starts.

Daniel Hudson (4-1), Yohan Ramirez and Evan Phillips each got three outs before Alex Vesia took over the ninth for his fourth save in five chances.

Chicago had a runner on second in the eighth when Paul DeJong hit a fly ball toward the center-field fence, ending the inning.

The Dodgers played without Teoscar Hernandez, who flew to the Dominican Republic for personal reasons. Manager Dave Roberts said Hernandez is expected to return today.

In other news, Oakland fell 5-1 to the Los Angeles Angels.— AP
