Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed concern over the increase in the number of civilians killed during the ongoing conflict between the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas and Israel.
The Russian president on Tuesday also targeted US policy in the Middle East, which he said has failed to take into account the needs of the Palestinians.
According to local media, Russian President Putin had a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during which he expressed concern over the increase in the number of civilians killed in Israel and Gaza.
The Kremlin said in a statement that Putin and Erdogan reiterated the need for an immediate ceasefire and resumption of the dialogue process, while the Turkish president said targeting civilian facilities was deplorable and Turkey condemned such actions.
Also, on Tuesday, Putin called the establishment of a Palestinian state necessary and blamed US policy in the region for the conflict.
Putin said during a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad al-Sudani that many people would agree with me that the situation in the Middle East is a clear example of the failure of American policy.
On the other hand, Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman of the Russian President, has said that the Kremlin is in contact with the warring parties in Israel and Gaza and will try to play a role in solving the problem.
