Today’s Gospel, Saturday, July 13, 2024: “Do not be afraid”

2024-07-13 02:40:00

inside Today’s Gospel, Jesus encouraged his disciples not to be afraid in the face of setbacks. After reading this passage, Pope Francis reflected: “Fear is one of the greatest enemies in our Christian life, Jesus advises: Do not be afraid.”

The Pope then added: “Jesus describes three specific situations that they will face. They are like three temptations: to sweeten the Gospel, to water down the Gospel; second, persecution; third, the feeling that God leaves us alone .

“Jesus also suffered this test in the Garden of Olives and on the Cross: Father, why have you abandoned me?” Sometimes we feel spiritually dry; we need not fear him. Heavenly Father cares for us because we are valuable in His eyes. What matters is candor, which is the courage of the witness of faith: to confess Jesus before men and to continue doing good,” the Pope reflected in the Angelus of June 21, 2020.

During the Mass, the Liturgy of the Word is one of the central moments of the celebration. At this time, reading Bible passages allows us to delve deeper into the teachings of Jesus Christ. Text we shared Saturday July 13, 2024 Published on the Vatican website.

Liturgy for July 13, 2024: First Reading

Read Isaiah

It’s 6, 1-8

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a high and magnificent throne.

The hem of his cloak filled his temples.

Next to him were two seraphs, each with six wings: one pair covering the face; They cover their feet with another and fly with another. They shouted to one another, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God of hosts! His glory fills the whole earth.

The gates trembled at his din, and the temple was filled with smoke. Then I cried, “Woe to me! I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, for my eyes have seen the King and the Lord of hosts.”

Then one of the seraphs flew towards me. In his hand he held an ember which he had taken from the altar with tongs. He touched my mouth with the ember and said, “Behold, this touches your lips, your sins are taken away, your sins are forgiven.”

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Who shall I send? Who shall go in my place?”

I answered him, “Lord, here I am, please send me.”

Daily Gospel: July 13, 2024

Reading based on the Gospel of St. Matthew

Mountain 10, 24-33

At that time, Jesus said to the apostles: “A disciple cannot be higher than a teacher, and a servant cannot be higher than a master. It is enough that the disciples can be like teachers, and the servants can be like masters. If they call the head of the family Satan, how might they not say that Where are His servants?

Don’t be afraid of men. There is nothing hidden that will not be discovered; there is no secret that will not be known. What I have spoken to you in the night shall be repeated in the broad daylight; what I have spoken in your ears shall be proclaimed from the housetops.

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, fear Him who can cast both soul and body into a place of punishment.

Can’t two birds be sold for one coin? Yet, none of them would fall to the ground unless the Father allowed it. As for you, even the hairs of your head are numbered. So do not be afraid, for you are worth more than all the birds in the world.

Whoever acknowledges me before men, him will I also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. Whoever denies me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in heaven.
