Ahead of AFF U-19 Cup, U-19 National Team Continues TC in Surabaya – 2024-07-12 20:29:18

Indonesian U-19 National Team COACH Indra Sjafri continued the training camp (TC) in Surabaya by bringing 28 players following previously completing the TC in Jakarta from June 23 to July 9, 2024.

The total of 28 players that Indra brought to Surabaya has been narrowed down to five players compared to the previous total of 33 players during the TC in Jakarta.

Later, during the TC in Surabaya, Indra will once more narrow down his players to 23 players for the ASEAN U-19 Boys Championship or the 2024 AFF U-19 Cup in Surabaya on 17-29 July.

“This is a team reduction, from 33 players, reduced by five players to be brought to Surabaya. These twenty-eight players are the ones I will bring for the continued TC in Surabaya. Later it will be reduced once more from the 28 players, later only 23 players will be allowed. So we are still reducing five more players to be registered with the AFF,” said Indra, quoted from the official PSSI website, Wednesday (10/7).

“Previously, I said that I would conduct a trial once morest the East Java PON, but it was not implemented, because we will continue to focus on improving the team, to better prepare and optimize this team (physical fitness and others) to face the upcoming tournament,” he added.

Meanwhile, Jens Raven has joined the team since Monday (8/7). The young player who just got an Indonesian passport said, “I hope to join the team, and make a big contribution later in the AFF tournament.”

The U-19 national team is in Group A of the 2024 AFF U-19 Cup with Timor Leste, Cambodia and the Philippines.

They will play their first match once morest the Philippines on Wednesday (17/7), then Cambodia on Saturday (20/7), and finally once morest Timor Leste on Tuesday (23/7). All Indonesian national team matches will be played at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya.
