The intensive festival program will invite Vilnius residents and guests of the city to get acquainted with street art for free even for four days of the festival, during SPOT the works of Spanish, Catalan, French, Dutch, Finnish and Lithuanian creators will be presented!
“With this year’s SPOT festival program, we invite you to play in the city and with the city, and we assure you once once more that the city is a great playground in many senses,” say the festival organizers.
And during the entire festival, it will be possible to look for scattered sculptures by the Spanish artist Isaac Cordal on the streets of Vilnius, which you will not only have to walk around, look up more often or check your attentiveness to find. Although the sculptures are extremely small in size, they carry serious social messages and invite us to think regarding our devalued relationship with nature or the side effects of evolution. “Cement Eclipses Project” sculptures have already traveled to many countries around the world, and specially designed ones for Vilnius can be found in Šiltadaržis, Užupis, Vokiečių, Pylimo, Pilies, Bernardinai and other streets.
On July 11 and 12, the audience of the festival will also see Marija Baranauskaitė – Liberman’s work “Duck performance”, presented for the first time in Lithuania, which will invite you to look at the relationship between animals and people with new eyes. Already this Thursday and Friday, the work of Aina Makipaa, a Finnish contemporary circus artist residing in Kaunas, will also be presented – “Stork”. This performance will invite the festival audience to perhaps the most remote location of this year’s program and will take place in the Rain Park, Šeškinė.
During SPOT, it will also be possible to see the sincere and very cozy modern circus show “Espera” by the Catalan troupe “Compania de Circo eia”, which will be presented in the courtyard of the House of Stories, and on July 13 and 14, the Dutch troupe “Knot on hands” will invite you to an acrobatic, balance testing performance “Brace for impact”. I am glad that the Catalans “Electrico 28” have returned to Vilnius and to the festival, and since Monday they have been intensively creating their latest work “The Place” at the playground of Šeimyniškių Street.
On July 12 and 13, the French “Collectif la Meandre” dance performance “Bien Parado” will take place, which, accompanied by the sounds of electronic music, will invite the audience not only to see, but also to free themselves in movement, and maybe even in life.
On the weekend, the dance performance “One” by Clara Giambinos and Arūnas Mozūraitis will be presented under the Vingis Park bridge, which will take you on a meditative journey, testifying to deep mutual connections and becoming ONE.
On the last day of the SPOT festival, it will be possible to see dance performances from the balconies – or take a new look at the courtyard of the Lithuanian Theater, Music and Cinema Museum, where Ulna dance company from Kaunas will present the dance work “Balcony”.
Even more discoveries while playing in the city and with the city, during the entire SPOT festival, July 11-14, for free! The entire festival program is at menuspaustuve.lt, all performances of the festival are free.
