Erba Massacre, No to Trial Review. Life Sentence Confirmed for Rosa and Olindo –

There will be no new trial to review the Erba massacre sentence. The Court of Appeal of Brescia – following almost 5 hours of deliberation – declared inadmissible the three requests for review presented by the prosecutor of Milan Cuno Tarfusser and the lawyers of Olindo Romano and Rosa Bazzi, sentenced to life imprisonment for having killed Raffaella Castagna, her mother Paola Galli, her two-year-old son Youssef and their neighbor Valeria Cherubini on December 11, 2006 in the court of via Diaz: it was the left-handed Rosa who plunged the blade into the child’s throat. The flames set on the spot erased the traces, but when the attackers closed the door of Raffaella’s apartment behind them, they found themselves faced, incredulous, by the neighbors: Mario Frigerio, attacked by Olindo, was saved by a malformation of the carotid artery, while his wife Valeria Cherubini was struck on the stairs and then killed in their attic. The consequence of the rejection of the requests, which accepts the request of the Attorney General, is the confirmation of life imprisonment for the spouses, decided definitively by the Court of Cassation on May 3, 2011. The defense will still be able to appeal to the Court of Cassation once morest the sentence, which for the moment leaves the two to life imprisonment: the hopes of the couple who witnessed the verdict in the same cage have therefore crumbled. No surprise, as predicted: even the judges of Brescia believe that the neighbors are the perpetrators of the massacre in the ‘Palazzina del ghiaccio’.
