The Central Regional Highway will be partially closed due to roadworks

The Ministry of Transportation reported that on Thursday, July 11, between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. on July 12, the Regional Central Highway (ARC) will remain closed at kilometer 4 (Maracay direction) due to road works.

According to the information, the authorities will carry out maintenance work on this section due to the collapse of the road.

The state agency did not explain whether a channel will be created for the circulation of vehicles or if there will be a counterflow measure.

On June 24, Ramón Celestino Velásquez, Minister of Transport, announced rehabilitation works at kilometer 4 of the ARC. The authority indicated that scarifying and asphalting work had been ordered on the road.

On June 28, the ministry announced the temporary closure of the road for this reason. A counterflow channel was activated for this occasion.

What happened at kilometer 4 (towards Maracay)?

Drivers reported on social media that the road had collapsed. In videos available on the social network X (Twitter) you can see the moment when the vehicles fell into a slope caused by a sinkhole in the area.

What will be the alternative routes?

The Central Regional Highway will be partially closed due to roadworks

– People heading towards Maracay (Aragua) or Los Valles del Tuy (Miranda) can take the alternate route via Baruta. Drivers can use this route and then continue their journey towards Hoyo de la Puerta.

However, as this is a partial night-time closure, authorities have asked citizens not to travel on the road during this time to avoid inconvenience.
