Benji Gregory, known for his role in the popular TV show Alf, passed away at the age of 46.

Gregory’s sister Rebecca confirmed to TMZ that his body was discovered on June 13 inside his car outside a Chase Bank in Peoria, Arizona. According to the report, it is believed that he may have fallen asleep in his car and succumbed to the heat following dropping off checks the day before. His service dog, Hans, was also found deceased in the vehicle.

As per Deadline, the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s office has confirmed Gregory’s death, although the exact cause is still unknown.

Rebecca also mentioned that Gregory struggled with depression, bipolar disorder, and a sleep disorder.

Camille Jazzy Jenkins, a cousin of Gregory’s, shared a tribute on Facebook honoring the late actor. She stated, “Our family is profoundly saddened by the loss of one of the most cherished and remarkable men in our close-knit circle.” Jenkins also mentioned “heat exhaustion” as the cause of death.

“It has been difficult to come to terms with our loss,” the statement further read. “We are struggling.. but find solace in the belief that he is now with his grandmothers. Please keep his sister, brother, and parents in your thoughts and prayers.”

Arizona has been experiencing extreme heat in recent times. Last month, the National Weather Service confirmed that June was the hottest on record in Phoenix, with an average temperature of 97 degrees.

Gregory appeared in all 103 episodes of the children’s series that aired from 1986 to 1990. The show featured ALF, also known as Alien Life Form, a furry creature who becomes a part of the Tanner family following crashing his spaceship into their house. Gregory portrayed Brian Tanner, the family’s son. His role in the show marked his final acting venture, and he later served in the Navy, being honorably discharged in 2005, as per TMZ.
