The Union’s announcement states the following:
S.A. Glaukou-Esperou AOPA Patras announces the start of its cooperation with Mr Panagiotis Gazio and welcomes him in the Union Family.
We wish Panagiotis to be healthy and to fulfill his individual ambitions, while at the same time helping the Union to realize its goals.
At his first statements as a Union player the 24-year-old athlete said that important for his decision to choose the Union was “the concerted effort” he saw being made in the team “at all levels, from the Academy and the infrastructure to the Men’s team, which shows that the Union wants to play an important role once more this year in the 3rd National Team and in general in the next few years in the National Categories” and added regarding the team that “it has a very good coach, a very good and organized Administration and I think it will star in the coming years”. Regarding his goals, he stated that “I want to improve through training alongside the team’s good course, to have a good image both as a team and individually in the matches and to develop as a person and as an athlete for one more year”.
The one born on 11the April 2000, in Lygourio Argolida, Panagiotis Gatzios is 2.05 tall and plays as a power forward/center. He started playing basketball at the AO Koronis Ligouri academies. His summer 2015 he moved to the academies of Prometheus Patras where he competed until then 2018having also 4 participations in the Stoiximan Basket League (1 participation in the season 2016-2017 and 3 appearances in the season 2017-2018). Also, with Prometheus’ jersey, he took 2nd placethe place in the Panhellenic U16 Children’s Championship in the season 2015-2016 in Trikala and 2the place in the Panhellenic U18 Youth Championship held in May 2018 in the peninsula of Crete. At the same time, he participated with Promethea 2014 in the championship of A1 E.S.K.A.-H (2015-18).
2 seasons followed (2018-19 and 2019-20) in Messolonghi with Charilaos Trikoupis in the A2 National Team, winning it 2020 promotion to the Basketball League. The following year 2020-21 was in Korivos Amaliadas, but the championship of the A2′ national team was ultimately not held normally due to the Covid-19 pandemic, while the competition season 2021-22 fought with A.O. Agriniou in the A2′ National, with the team remaining in the category, occupying 11th placethe position.
The return to Patras followed 2022-23 with the shirt of Aiolos Agiyas, occupying the 4ththe place in 1The Second National Team.
The previous racing year 2023-24 competed in Asteras Temenis, helping the Aegean team to secure their stay in the 1the of the year in the National Categories.
