After the maxi-alliance to stop her at the polls, now justice also wants to hinder Marine Le Pen. The Paris prosecutor’s office has recently opened an investigation into suspected illicit financing of Le Pen’s 2022 presidential campaign. The news was released by Bfmtv, citing “reliable sources”. This is a decision taken following a report last April by the National Commission for Electoral Campaign Accounts and Political Financing (CNCCFP) which had detected irregularities in the reimbursement of part of the campaign expenses provided for candidates who stayed within certain limits. The CNCCFP found irregularities not only for the Rassemblement National, which however is the only party once morest which an investigation has been opened.
