Unilever, the manufacturer of the most popular skin whitening cream ‘Fair and Lovely’, has announced to change the name of this cream.
In this regard, Sunny Jain, president of Unilever’s beauty and personal care division, says that he does not believe the word ‘fair’ used in the name of this cream is correct and he wants to correct it.
According to the company, they will remove the word ‘fair’ from the name of the cream and use a word that does not show prejudice to any race, while the new name of the product will be announced following regulatory approval.
We’re committed to a skin care portfolio that’s inclusive of all skin tones, celebrating the diversity of beauty. That’s why we’re removing the words ‘fairness’, ‘whitening’ & ‘lightening’ from products, and changing the Fair & Lovely brand name.https://t.co/W3tHn6dHqE
