Delcy Rodríguez says Venezuela could join the BRICS this year

“We have had a very active agenda, strengthening the agreements reached, this is the future of relations. A giant (China) that is also part of the BRICS group, where Venezuela hopes to formally join this year, because it is the route to the new world, without hegemony, respectful of international law.”he told Venezuelan Television during an act in which signed agreements for the promotion and protection of investments between the parties.

According to Rodriguez, Venezuela’s entry into the BRICS is “very important because our economies (China and Venezuela) are blocked or threatened”which is why it is necessary to obtain alternatives through new financial networks.

His words followed statements made in March by the Secretary General of ALBA-TCP, Jorge Arreazawho He said that Venezuela “has a very high probability of soon entering” the BRICS group.

In an interview for Unión Radio, Arreaza indicated that “Venezuela can be the great hinge at first and then a bridge for the rest of the ALBA countries that have sufficient economic capacity and demographic size to join the BRICS”.
