“A tree fell on a house and a man was trapped under the rubble. (…) One person has been confirmed dead.”reported Ed Gonzalez, sheriff of Harris County, where Houston belongs. The 53-year-old man died but his wife and children were saved.
In another incident, “A tree fell on a residence, striking a 74-year-old woman. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.”the sheriff reported.
On Monday, Houston received heavy rain and gusty winds. Multiple floods were recorded throughout the city, according to images released by authorities and local media.
Photos of fallen trees on vehicles, flooded roads with trapped cars and damage were shared by authorities on the social network X. In addition, at least one driver who was trapped with his vehicle on a flooded road in Houston was rescued.

The heavy rains and winds recorded by Beryl caused local authorities issued tornado warnings for parts of Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana.
Beryl plans to continue her journey through East Texas reaching Mississippi and Ohio in the next few days.

“On the forecast track, the center of Beryl will move toward eastern Texas on Monday night,” and then move across the Mississippi Valley into the Ohio Valley on Tuesday and Wednesday, the NHC reported.

Beryl is the first hurricane of the Atlantic seasonwhich runs from early June to late November, and impressed experts with its early onset and intensity.
By the time it passed through the Caribbean last week, the phenomenon had already claimed seven other victims: three in Grenada, where it made landfall on Monday; one in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and three in Venezuela.
