Hamas, the Palestinian resistance movement fighting the Israeli army in Gaza, has backed away from its demand for an early ceasefire in Gaza to free Israeli hostages and accepted a US proposal for talks on the release of prisoners.
According to the international news agency “Reuters”, Hamas has accepted the US proposal to start negotiations for the release of all hostages, including Israeli soldiers, as part of the first phase of the agreement to end the Gaza war.
The US President ruled out a mental examination
A senior Hamas leader told Reuters on condition of anonymity that Hamas had dropped its demand that Israel first sign a permanent cease-fire agreement, then release the prisoners.
