Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono (Antara)

Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono revealed his plans following he finished serving as the temporary leader of the capital. He admitted that he would return to his original job, namely as Head of the Presidential Secretariat (Kasetpres).

“According to the rules, the end of the second year is October 17. If asked what he wants to do following becoming governor, he will move as his initial task, to become the chief of presidential staff,” said Heru in Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, Friday (5/7).

Heru also does not know whether there will be a decision to extend the term of office or not, considering that the Jakarta gubernatorial election will only be held in November. According to him, that is the authority of the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri).

On that occasion, Heru was also asked regarding the offer to run in the 2024 Pilkada for the DKI Jakarta region. The reason is, Heru has received support from the DKI Democratic Party.

Previously, Heru admitted that he was not interested when his name was proposed by the Democratic Party to run in the 2024 Gubernatorial Election (Pilgub). He also admitted that there had been no communication with the party with the Mercedes star symbol.

“There is no (communication with the Democratic Party). No (interest), the interest is just in sharing basic food packages with the media crew,” said Heru following attending a cheap basic food package event at RPTRA Pulo Gundul, Tanah Tinggi, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta.

Heru explained that he is a State Civil Apparatus (ASN) and has no experience in politics. Therefore, he is not interested in running in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Regional Head Election (Pilkada).

“I am a civil servant, no experience, no experience in politics. What do I do?” said Heru. (Z-11)
