Quetta Night during Ramadan Snooker Tournaments are going on in which youngsters are seen playing snooker in large numbers throughout the night.

Every year in the month of Ramadan, snooker tournaments are organized between the players at night instead of during the day, in which, apart from the youth, the amateur players also play with great enthusiasm from the beginning to the dawn.

Due to the lack of playgrounds in Quetta, youth in large numbers prefer indoor sports like snooker.

There are almost dozens of snooker clubs in every area of ​​the city and the month of Ramadan is called the season of these snooker clubs.

Abdul Hafeez, the owner of the snooker club located on Alamdar Road in Quetta, told Independent Urdu that the purpose of organizing night snooker tournaments in the month of Ramadan every year is that the youth like to play at night because the youth who work in the shops. And in the month of Ramadan, the markets are closed till 12 in the morning, so the avid players play snooker till dawn.

“Secondly, those who work in offices and those enthusiasts must come to play here for a few hours during the night in Ramadan because it is a game in which playing one round is equivalent to walking two kilometers and is a physical exercise. Along with mental exercise is also included in this game.

He further said that ‘this game has a lot of importance in Balochistan, our players have gone to England. This game is neglected by the government. We organize tournaments with prizes ranging from 10,000 to 50,000 under our help.’

Zark Khan, a resident snooker player of Quetta, says, ‘I play snooker every Ramadan night till dawn with great passion. Ramadan is the season of this sport and people play snooker because of work during the day and hobby at night. The government needs to focus on this sport.’

Another snooker player, Mohammad Arif, while talking to Independent Urdu, said that ‘like chess has importance, snooker is also very important. Due to the lack of playgrounds, snooker is becoming very popular in Quetta. A lot of clubs have sprung up all over Quetta and we youngsters enjoy it a lot.’
