West Bank: Number of detainees rises to 9,580 since October 7

Palestine – The number of detainees in the occupied West Bank rose on Monday to 9,580 since October 7, following the Israeli army arrested 30 Palestinians in several governorates.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Affairs Authority (governmental) and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club (civil society) said in a joint statement received by Anadolu Agency that “the Israeli occupation forces arrested at least 30 citizens from the West Bank, including former prisoners, since yesterday evening (Sunday) until Monday morning, bringing the total number of arrests following October 7 to more than 9,580.”

The statement indicated that the arrests were distributed across the governorates of Hebron (south), Tubas, Nablus, Jenin, Qalqilya (north), Ramallah (center), and Jericho (east).

The total number of detainees from the West Bank includes those who were later released by Israel and those who are still being detained, according to the Anadolu Agency correspondent.

In conjunction with its war on Gaza, the Israeli army and settlers have escalated their attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, killing 571 people since October 7, in addition to regarding 5,350 wounded.

Since October 7, Israel, with full American support, has been waging a war on Gaza that has resulted in more than 125,000 Palestinian deaths and injuries, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that has claimed the lives of dozens of children.
