Anders Torstensson ahead of the home match against IK Sirius – Mjällby AIF

Today is the time to restart the Allsvenskan following a five-week break – Did you have a nice holiday?

Thank you for asking! We had a break for just over two weeks and I managed a week in Crete, a family trip to Liseberg and midsummer celebrations with friends. It has been both nice and much needed following a busy end to the spring season.

There hasn’t just been a holiday on the schedule, the team has also been in camp and trained to the max – How has it gone?

It has gone excellently. We started with physical tests which were among the best results so far, so the boys have been doing their own training during the break. Then we went, as tradition offers, to a mini-camp at Ronneby Brunn, which is a much-appreciated element of the start-up, where we got good quality training and socialized in slightly different ways. A pleasant break from the everyday routine that ended with a training match once morest Hvidovre. Then we had a normal training week at Strandvallen before the match once morest Sirius.

At the moment we have not made any new acquisitions or sales – Are you happy with the squad?

Yes, it’s hard not to be happy with the squad following the spring season. But due to Adam Petersson’s injury, we have been one man short in the squad during the spring, so we are looking a bit at supplementing. Then we don’t know if we sell any players. There is interest. We will simply have to wait and see.
During the first half of the season, IK Sirius has had a tough start in the Allsvenskan, only two victories in the last ten matches – Vad will be the key to a good performance at Strandvallen?
First, we must not be fooled by those statistics. Sirius finished the last five with only one loss and the statistics in general point to them being a better team than the table position shows. The keys will be managing their forward Salech, who in my eyes is one of the series’ best. Sirius also has a good passing game that we need to shut down. They also have many good shooters in the team and are sharp when it comes to post situations.
What are your expectations for today’s match?
That we follow the game plan, are aggressive and show that we are the ones who want to hold the baton at Strandvallen.
