Malaysia awards Al-Qaradaghi the “Prophet’s Migration” award

Malaysia – Malaysia awarded the “Prophet’s Migration Award” to the President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, Ali Al-Qaradaghi, on the occasion of the new Hijri year 1446.

Al-Qaradaghi wrote in a post on the “X” platform yesterday, Sunday: “The Kingdom of Malaysia awarded Ali Muhyiddin Al-Qaradaghi, President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, the Prophet’s Migration Award for the International Islamic Personality.”

He added that this comes “in appreciation of his efforts to promote moderate thinking in Islam, especially in the aspects of the objectives of Sharia, Islam and the state.”

Al-Qaradaghi continued: “The honoring ceremony took place during the large traditional celebration held by Malaysia on the occasion of the advent of the new Hijri year (Sunday), in the presence of Ibrahim Iskandar, King of Malaysia, representatives of the Malaysian government, and senior state figures.”

On January 8, Al-Qaradaghi was elected president of the International Union of Muslim Scholars by a majority vote during the sixth session meeting in Doha, according to what the union announced on Facebook.

Al-Qaradaghi held the position of Secretary-General of the Union, and was appointed President, succeeding Sheikh Ahmed Al-Raysuni, who assumed the position in 2018, succeeding the late founder Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi.

In his speech during the honoring ceremony, the King of Malaysia warned once morest relying on social media as a source of religious teachings and values, and once morest its misuse in spreading misleading concepts regarding religion and distorting the image of Islam.

He added in astonishment: “Professor TikTok has replaced the scientific councils, and Professor Facebook has taken the place of the serious book!”

The “Prophet’s Migration Award” is the most important award granted by the Malaysian government at the beginning of each Hijri year to distinguished figures who play a prominent role in serving Islam and humanity.

The beginning of the Hijri year, which is associated with the anniversary of the Prophet’s migration, is an annual event of great value to Muslims around the world, especially in Malaysia, because of the deep Islamic values that the migration has instilled in the minds of Malaysians.
