The Director General (Dirjen) of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Silmy Karim, said that his party is committed to conducting early detection so that Indonesia is not used as a destination or place of escape for criminals or wanted persons (DPO) from other countries.

“Indonesia must not be a destination for international criminals and a place for cybercrime to operate,” said Silmy in a written statement in Jakarta, Saturday (6/7).

Silmy made the statement as an emphasis following the Directorate General of Immigration deported and banned 13 foreign nationals (WNA) from Taiwan who were perpetrators of serious crimes in their place of origin.

The crimes committed by the 13 people were fraud, money laundering, narcotics, and carrying out attacks in Taiwan. Eleven of them have had their passports revoked.

The 13 Taiwanese nationals were deported via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on China Airlines flight CI 762 which departed for Taoyuan International Airport, Taiwan on Thursday (4/7) at 14.40 WIB.

“After a thorough examination by immigration officers, the thirteen foreign nationals turned out to be perpetrators of serious crimes in Taiwan. They will undergo the pro-Justitia process in Taiwan,” explained Silmy.

He added that the Directorate General of Immigration handed over a number of pieces of evidence to the government of the country of origin of the perpetrators of the crime. In addition, the Taiwanese police also closely guarded the return of the 13 people.

“In addition to deportation, we also put them on the blacklist so they cannot return to Indonesia and of course the legal process in Taiwan is waiting for these 13 people,” Silmy said. (Ant/Z-11)
