FRANS Faisal, 27, is very observant in seeing business opportunities. Through his social media platform, Frans successfully started a traditional Minang culinary business known as Mamafuji. His business has succeeded in achieving billions of rupiah in turnover and has attracted interest from various communities, including artists as customers.

The power of social media does provide strong support in various aspects, including the business world. Frans started his business with a video of Padang food that he often ate on his Instastory. “The beginning of pioneering Mamafuji in 2022. The idea started when I shared a story of eating rendang and onion cake on Instagram. It turned out that many netizens asked for and wanted the food. Finally, because they saw a possible market, Mamafuji was born,” said Frans.

However, starting a culinary business is not easy. Frans did a lot of market research for the food he was going to sell. Finally, he chose the name Mamafuji as the brand name that describes the figure of the recipe maker, Dewi Zuhriati or familiarly called Mamanya Fuji. “The brand name Mamafuji was taken because the recipe and maker are from my mother, Ibu Dewi Zuhriati, who is often called Oma Gala or Mama Fuji by netizens,” said the man who graduated with a BA in management.

Frans and Dewi finally agreed to present Payakumbuh’s signature products with original and hereditary recipes such as rendang, onion cake, and dendeng. Then the entire process including sending the goods to the expedition service, was done by the two of them themselves. When starting his business, Frans only relied on pre-orders or only produced goods that had been ordered by buyers via Instastory. But unexpectedly, he then received an order for 100 packages of onion cakes for Rp35 thousand in a few seconds.

“When I saw the netizens’ responses on the story, on average netizens wanted onion cake and rendang products. Finally, I opened a preorder for the product for 100 pieces. Alhamdulillah, it immediately sold out,” added Fujianti Utami Putri’s older sister or who is familiarly called Fuji. Until now, Mamafuji’s business continues to grow with 90 employees spread across four production points and working with various factories. Her business is also officially a legal entity under the name of PT Mama Fuji Group.

Mamafuji product prices vary, starting from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of rupiah, depending on the type of product chosen by the buyer. All products offered by Mamafuji are guaranteed halal. In addition to the general public, a number of famous artists such as Atta Halilintar, Ashanty, Aurel Hermansyah, Lula Lahfah, Gissela Anastasia, Violenzia Jean, Rebecca Kloper, and Ria Ricis are also interested.

In a month, Frans needs tens of tons of meat and flour for the production of rendang and onion cakes. Frans admitted that there are many things that must be considered to ensure customer satisfaction. “Therefore, we have to work every day without a break to monitor the quality of the product,” said Frans. However, Frans’ efforts in developing and maintaining product quality have also achieved significant success.

In one month, Frans is able to sell around 12,000 jars of onion cakes with various flavors and sizes. For rendang, Frans managed to sell around 5,000 packs with different flavors and sizes. His turnover is around Rp3 billion-Rp3.5 billion per year.
