Pepe Merino joins Claudia Sheinbaum’s presidential cabinet

MEXICO CITY.- The virtual president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaumannounced another member for his cabinet: Jose Antonio Pena Merino will be leading the new area of ​​the federal administration, the Digital Transformation and Telecommunications Agency.

At a press conference, Sheinbaum stressed that she will not present the head of the Security Secretariat this Thursday, but rather later.

“Remember that we proposed the creation of the Government’s Digital Transformation Agency. I can tell you right away that its head will be Antonio Peña Merino. We will present it later, but it is almost obvious that, having done a great job in the city, he will be in that area,” he said.

Tomorrow, Thursday, the president-elect plans to present six new members for her cabinet. The announcement will take place at the Interactive Museum of Economics at 11:00 a.m.

Who is Pepe Merino?

Jose Antonio Pena Merino He is a Mexican political scientist and professor who served as technical coordinator of the Dialogues for Transformation, collecting data for the 2024-2030 nation project.

He also headed the Digital Agency for Public Innovation during the Sheinbaum administration. He created a mechanism to streamline administrative procedures for citizens and turned Mexico City into the city with the most Wi-Fi hotspots.
