Sanchez agrees to leave Ecuador’s football federation

After the defeat once morest the national team Argentina for the quarter-finals of the Copa America USA 2024, the Spanish strategist, Félix Sánchez Bas is no longer Ecuador’s coach.

The “Tri” reached the quarterfinals of a Copa America for the third time in four (4) editions but has always been eliminated by the current champions of each edition of the competition. The last two once morest the Argentine national team.

“We thank Felix and his coaching staff for their work and professionalism, and we wish them success in their future projects,” the FEF said.

Sánchez, 48, took over as Ecuadorian coach at the beginning of 2023, following managing the Qatar national team that hosted the 2022 World Cup and won the Asian Cup in 2019, this being the first title won by the Qatari country.

Ecuador is in fifth place in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup following the first six rounds.

The Copa America has already seen the resignation of the Jamaican coach, the Icelander Heimir Hallgrímssonand left other technicians like the Mexican very affected Jaime Lozano or the American Gregg Berhalter.
