Chillán mixed team led the regional date of the National Table Tennis League – La Discusión 2024-07-08 02:49:12

The mixed representative of the Chillán Table Tennis Association won the title of the first round of the Zonal Tournament of the National League of the Chilean Table Tennis Federation Fechiteme 2024, held in Chillán Viejo.

The team, led by Esteban Carrasco, was made up of Jacinta Carrasco, Jaime Lama, Alejandro Rodríguez, Marco Aqueveque, Esteban Carrasco and directed by coach Rodrigo Moraga.

Triumphs

To be crowned champions, the Chillán team achieved first place undefeated, following beating the Angelina “B” teams 3-1, Chillán Viejo “B” 3-2 and Temuco “B” 3-0 in the qualifying phase.

In the semi-final, they beat Angelina “A” 3-2 and in the final, Chillan Viejo “B” 3-1.

The podium was headed by Chillán A, followed by Chillán Viejo B and Los Ángeles A. “There will be a total of three zonal dates (zone where Chillán, Chillán Viejo, Los Ángeles and Temuco compete). The champion of the zone qualifies directly to the grand national final for mixed teams in the adult category and the second and third place in the zone have the chance to go to a playoff called interzonal to obtain a spot in the national final that will take place in December of this year, where the best teams in the country will compete,” details Esteban Carrasco, who in addition to being a player, participates in the team, with his daughter Jacinta Carrasco.

The team has a great international experience in the form of Olympic table tennis player Alejandro Rodríguez, the first representative from Chillán to the Olympic Games. This was in Athens 2004.

And of course, the great contribution of Jaime Lama, who shines constantly playing in Chile, but who has months of competitive experience based in Germany. The second regional date will be played in Temuco and the third and final, in Chillán.
