In a recent Roundtable on the process of banking in Cuba, a leader boasted that the island has two national payment platforms.
Specifically, the Director General of Information Technology of the Ministry of Communications, Mario Hernández Pastrana, boasted regarding Transfermóvil and EnZona. “Even with its technological limitations, Cuba has two sovereign payment gateways, something that few countries have,” said cited by Cubadebate.
In this regard, he stated that the Information Technology Company for Defense (Xetid) continues working on improving the options and services of EnZona, a payment platform in Cuba with more than one million users.
He also announced that “last Saturday, Transfermóvil reached five million users.” According to him, Transfermóvil manages more than 110 million operations monthly.
Regarding one of the most frequent complaints, the generation or contracting of QR codes in Transfermóvil, he explained how it works.
To do this, users can register and make digital contracts on the website www.transfermovil.etecsa.cu. There, “validation is done automatically with the user’s tax accounts at the bank, which eliminated the delay in generating QR codes,” he clarified.
The Mincom official said that “those who had previous difficulties have been gradually reintegrated and a response is being given to this.”
“Some errors have arisen when the user has entered the bank account incorrectly, and these have been rejected by the system, which are very few, since we already have more than 95,000 QR codes generated,” he said.
Accreditation in Transfermóvil
He also announced that Etecsa and the Youth Computer and Electronics Clubs are working on enabling and training in the use of the web for contracting.
Finally, Hernández Pastrana praised the “potential and functionalities of this system, where the user, remotely and in real time, as a business owner, is evaluating and knowing how sales are going.”
The Cuban leader announced that the website (www.transfermovil.etecsa.cu) “is generating and will upload” a manual on the registration and accreditation process.
