‘Can’t leave politics to politicians, judges and generals:’ Shahid Khaqan

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi New on Saturday A political party Officially announcing the establishment of ‘Awam Pakistan’, he said that ‘Awam Pakistan The establishment is not a party nor a traditional political party.’

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad along with former finance minister Miftah Ismail, he said regarding his new party that any person of ‘public reputation and ability’ would be able to join it.

Former Senior Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Central Convenor of Awam Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbas said that his party does not want power in any situation. ‘The people involved in the Jamaat will give something to the country.’

According to Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the rulers of the country do not realize the sufferings of the nation. ‘Basic commodities like milk have been taxed.’

He lamented that one per cent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is being spent on the health sector, while the country’s exports are declining rapidly.

Abbasi criticized the February 8 general elections and said that he had never thought that the country’s conditions would be so bad.

The majority of the members of the assembly sitting in the parliament have lost the election. Electables are part of national politics and not every electable is acceptable.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said: ‘We are anyone, prime minister, army chief, judge or anyone. All are subject to the constitution of this country. Every institution is subject to the constitution.

“We talk regarding accountability, but accountability should be for those who tax but don’t pay.”

Awam Pakistan Central Secretary General Miftah Ismail started his speech on this occasion with a question: ‘Today the child of Pakistan is sleeping hungry. If this country remains poor, can this country move forward?’

He said that ‘40% of the children here are mentally and physically weak.’

He added: ‘Where many third world countries are ahead of us, we are behind Sudan.’

He said that politics cannot be left only to politicians, judges and generals. ‘People have to come to politics.’

Referring to the past, he said that except Afghanistan, we have lagged behind every country in the region, while in 1994-95 we were at the forefront of our neighboring countries.

Miftah Ismail, while criticizing the annual budget approved by the National Assembly, said that it has doubled the taxes of salaried people and those earning 1 lakh and 75 thousand.

You set aside 75 billion for the members of the assembly. Is this government running the East India Company?’

Miftah, referring to the Operation Resolve, said, ‘Today we are going to conduct another Operation Resolve, why are these operations needed once more and once more? Because you cannot eradicate poverty.’
