War in the East: The Congolese State is blinding the media in the DRC

The media in the DRC must not under any circumstances broadcast the progress of operations in the East of the country. According to the Congolese authorities, the press is spreading propaganda for the country’s enemies, including Rwanda and its militias.

In Kinshasa, Israel Mutombo, forced into silence, appeared before his viewers with tears in his eyes: “The authorities have banned any broadcasting of rebel activities in the east of the country. We do not have the right to say a word despite all the pain and the reliable information we have.” The press professional remains very affected by this decision.

However, he sends a message of hope to all the men and women trapped in the atrocities currently being committed in the East of the country. “I hope that we will meet once more one day. But if it happens that we do not see each other, we will meet once more in heaven if and only if you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. We share your pain.”

It should be noted that the DRC remains very affected by the war in the East. In Kinshasa, politicians and social actors continue to hope for a better tomorrow.
