Vice President Félix Ulloa participated in the Conference of Vice Presidents, focused on migration and the prevention of human trafficking. The meeting allowed for the establishment of a short, medium and long-term action plan for migration governance in the Trifinio Region.
Vice President Ulloa expressed his satisfaction when presenting the initiatives of President Nayib Bukele’s Government, which have shown tangible results and recognition by other countries such as the United States, which in 2022 declared that El Salvador is no longer in the Top 10 of countries with the highest irregular migration and, this year, promoted it to level 2 in recognition of its efforts in the fight once morest human trafficking.
In addition, the officials reaffirmed the regional vision of finding holistic solutions to overcome these common challenges, developing and implementing a trinational strategy for the comprehensive approach to migration in cross-border communities, and jointly strengthening the prevention of human trafficking and assistance to victims of this crime.
Authorities from the Trifinio Plan, the Secretariat Against Sexual Violence, Exploitation and Human Trafficking -SVET-, the International Organization for Migration of Guatemala and representatives of the municipal governments of the Trifinio area also participated in the activity.
