World Poetry Festival will have more than 200 vates

More than 22 international poets from four continents and some 200 Venezuelan poets will gather for the 18th edition of the Venezuelan World Poetry Festival, which will take place from July 8 to 13.

The event prior to the inauguration will be on the 8th at the Bolívar theater, at 10:00 am, led by children from the Juan Calzadilla National Poetry School with an emotional recital.

Later, the official inauguration will take place, at 5:00 in the followingnoon, in the same place.

This new edition is in tribute to the poet Leonardo González Ruiz and will feature various activities in 20 states.

The honoree was born in the state of Barinas in 1959 and among his great literary repertoire he has published books such as Heráclito / Caín, 1999; Book of the Dead, 1999; The Promises of Solo, 2001; The lost poet and other texts, 2007; Read Plain, 2007; Words of the police, 2008; Poets, poetesses and other anomalies, 2003; The environment and us, 2004, and Fragments of a book by the lost poet, 2004.

The activities will take place in libraries, high schools, theaters, historic houses, bookstores in the South and universities.

The vice president of Communication, Culture and Tourism, Freddy Ñáñez, said: “What each edition is regarding is reading our own country, reading our people, reading the deep diversity that connects us with the creative world.”
