Venezuela debuted with a win at the U-23 Baseball World Cup

This Thursday, the Venezuelan national team took the victory in its participation in the U-23 Baseball World Cup following sweeping the Netherlands 9 runs to 4 in a game played at the Sonora Stadium in Hermosillo, Mexico.

With an offensive of 13 hits, the team led by Carlos García showed its power and superiority once morest the European team, made up largely of players of Caribbean origin.

The most outstanding player for the Venezuelans was Robert Pérez Jr., first baseman and son of the bench coach and legend of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) of the same name, who hit the first home run for the Venezuelan delegation in the tournament and drove in three runs, in addition to going 2-for-3.

Wikelman Ramírez earned the win following totaling 2.2 innings of work with one walk and three strikeouts in relief of starter Nelson Hernández.

The Venezuelan team has a 1-0 record, tied with Colombia and Nicaragua in Group B of the tournament.

The next opponent will be today once morest the Colombian team, a game that will be played starting at 10:30 pm Venezuelan time, but in the same venue.
