Now more people with police training are going to work

The Directorate of Police have now distributed the money they were allocated in the revised national budget, which was supposed to strengthen the police’s work once morest criminal networks. This applies to both the 300 million they have received for the purpose this year, and the 600 million they have received until 2025.

Director of Police Benedicte Bjørnland says that more employees will strengthen professional environments throughout the country.

– By hiring more graduates, experienced employees with relevant skills who are already working in the agency can be used to a greater extent in efforts once morest criminal networks, she says.

Oslo police district gets the most with NOK 29.3 million this year and NOK 63.6 million in 2025. At the bottom of the list are Nordland, Agder, Finnmark, and Møre and Romsdal police districts. They all get a total of NOK 24.3 million each.

The funds will also be used to increase competence in Kripos and Økokrim. Kripos will receive a total of NOK 67.5 million this year and next year, while Økokrim will receive NOK 40.5 million.

Bjørnland says that the police must get better at following technological developments. 135 million will go to technology that directly supports efforts once morest criminal networks.

– A common pot earmarked for this purpose ensures that everyone gets access to the same tools, which helps to strengthen efforts in the police districts, says the police director.
