The Chamber for Defining Legal Situations of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) of Colombia, denied the temporary, conditional and anticipated freedom requested by the defense of Salvatore Mancuso Gómez.
Likewise, his freedom was denied as a peace manager appointed by the National government, the JEP reported in a post on the X network, where it details all the details regarding the request for freedom raised by the defense of said subject.

According to the Special Jurisdiction for Peace, its determination has to do with “that Mancuso’s appearance before the JEP is being studied by the Constitutional Court due to a ‘positive collision of jurisdictional jurisdiction’”, so “ “The competence of the JEP, due to the personal factor, is questioned.”
Mancuso as peace manager
The JEP recalled that this request had already been denied by the Justice and Peace Chamber of the Barranquilla Court, which was appealed, “the appeal having not been resolved by the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, in response to the conflict of powers provided by the Constitutional Court.”
“For this reason, the JEP also denies Mancuso’s freedom as a peace manager,” he added.
The jurisdiction had already denied the freedom of the former paramilitary leader last April, pointing out that “the granting of temporary, conditional and early freedom, as the Appeal Section itself has said, is a benefit to build trust and not an automatic right.” .
He added that “the granting of unconditional or automatic benefits is not possible since what is involved is guaranteeing the rights of the victims,” Colombian media reported.
