El Salvador has been highlighted as one of the countries with the greatest tourism recovery globally, according to the World Tourism Barometer for the First Quarter of 2024 published by the UN Tourism. The country experienced a remarkable 90% increase upon arrival of visitors compared to the same period in 2019, consolidating itself as leader in the Americas and Western Hemisphere region.

This figure places El Salvador as the fourth best performing country in global tourism recoverysurpassed only by Qatar, Albania and Saudi Arabia. This is attributed to Successful initiatives such as Surf Citywhich has attracted international surfing events and has contributed significantly to the growth of the Salvadoran tourism sector.

Furthermore, at a global level, tourism has shown a 97% recovery in tourist arrivals compared to pre-pandemic levelsreaching the 285 million tourists during the first quarter of 2024, representing an increase of 19% compared to the same period of the previous year.
