The island of Jamaica remains under a curfew due to Hurricane Beryl, a Category 4 hurricane, which is affecting the Caribbean and is approaching the Cayman IslandsIt is then expected to move towards the Mexican coast, with impact expected tonight or early Friday morning south of the resort of Tulum.
The latest report from the Jamaica Meteorological Service indicates that the hurricane is now moving intermittently across the island, causing heavy rain, flooding and winds that will gradually diminish overnight.
Jamaica continues with curfew
“Jamaica continues to experience adverse weather conditions following the passage of Hurricane Beryl,” Prime Minister Andrew Holness warned on social media X.
In this regard, he said: “This followingnoon I called the Cabinet and received reports from the relevant ministers; given the weather conditions, in addition to considerations for public safety, public order and the protection of property, a new curfew has been declared on the island.”
The declaration remains in effect until 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, 2024, local time.
