Kallithea Patron: “We will also close the road if…” – What the community is asking for
 – 2024-07-04 15:34:11

Since the 80’s when “111” was built, the community of Kallithea on the outskirts of Patras has been cut in two. Since then, for almost 40 years, the residents of the area have only heard promises regarding the execution of additional works and the construction of a junction so that there is safety in their movements. The problem is that one side of the village does not have safe access to the National Road.

Yiannis Bakalaros, president of the Kallithea community, speaks to “P” regarding the issue, and explains that in April the local council made a decision requesting that the relevant expropriations proceed and that traffic lights be installed in the area until the project is completed.

“Minor accidents happen often. The village requests that the project proceed. At the moment, those on one side of the village that has been cut off are served by a private road. It is not possible for an entire village and its visitors to pass only through the private road. There is danger”.

The study has been ready since 2017 and shows how the hub might be built

As Mr. Bakalaros explained, since 2017 the study describing what needs to be done in the area to create a hub has been completed. But he points out that the studies have remained in the drawers. Since taking office as president of the Kallithea community, Mr. Bakalaros has been in contact with the Region of Western Greece to initiate developments.
