Since 10:30 in the morning, all the forces of P.Y. have been fighting an uneven battle with the fire. Chios to bring under control the fiery front in the area of Sidirounda that threatens large green lungs of Chios.
According to information from politischios.gr, the fire was caused by a man who, despite the ban on burning in the middle of the fire protection season and despite the winds, tried to burn crop residues.

The fire, until late Monday followingnoon, was burning uncontrollably in an agroforestry and purely forest area, with the fire brigade trying to stop its spread towards the Apsiles area, where there is a large green lung with dense tree cover.

All the forces of the Chios Fire Service, the Bell helicopter of Samos, a Kamov helicopter, 2 Canadairs, water tankers of the Municipality and the Region, army forces with heavy vehicles to open fire zones as well as 11 firefighters from the Lesbos who were transported to the island by Coast Guard Open Sea Patrol Vehicles, while in the followingnoon another 9 firefighters with vehicles will depart from Mytilini for Chios with the liner.
