REMY Gardner will replace injured Alex Rins at the German GP at the Sachsenring this weekend, the Monster Energy Yamaha team announced on their official website on Wednesday (3/7).

Rins suffered a broken wrist and ankle following falling off his motorbike at the start of the Dutch GP, Sunday (30/6).

The Monster Energy Yamaha team said the Spanish rider had undergone surgery and was now concentrating on making a full recovery.

Gardner was the 2021 Moto2 world champion. He has already competed in MotoGP in the 2022 season for the KTM-Tech3 team.

After a less than optimal season, finishing 23rd in the final standings, Gardner joined Yamaha in Superbike racing.

After eight rounds of MotoGP this season, Ducati rider Jorge Martin leads the standings with a 10-point lead over two-time world champion Francesco Bagnaia. (Ant/Z-1)
