Polling stations turned into battlefields during voting in two National Assembly constituencies NA-219 and NA-220 in Hyderabad due to clashes between political activists.

During the voting in NA-219 and NA-220 constituencies of the National Assembly in Hyderabad, the polling stations became battleground due to clashes between the workers of Pakistan People’s Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan, 5 people were injured.

An argument between PP and MQM workers took place at the polling station set up at St. Bona Venture School on NA 220 which turned into a clash. On this occasion, workers pelted stones at each other while firing was also done.

It is said that the supporters of both the parties had a bitter exchange on the matter of entering and stopping the guard. Army, Rangers and Police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

At Polling Station No. 132 of NA 220, in the clash between MQM and PP workers, sticks and stones were freely used, as a result of which 5 persons were injured, due to which polling was stopped for some time, following which the police and After the Rangers brought the situation under control, the polling process was resumed.

During the polling in National Assembly Constituency NA-219 from Hyderabad, unknown persons entered a women’s polling station and snatched bundles of ballot papers and escaped. Police reached there on the complaint of the staff.

In NA-219 itself, there have been reports of a fight between the workers of two political parties.

A clash between PML-N and PP workers took place at the Shah Muhammad Dahri polling station of National Assembly Constituency NA-216 in Matiari district adjacent to Hyderabad, following which the polling was stopped for some time while a heavy contingent of police reached the spot. Second Election Commissioner Sindh took notice of the dispute between two political parties in Hyderabad NA 219 and contacted the District Returning Officer and SSP Hyderabad on telephone and informed regarding the situation.

On this occasion, the DRO told the Election Commissioner that the matter has been resolved following which the polling is continuing in a peaceful atmosphere.

According to the spokesperson, Election Commissioner Sindh has issued instructions to the concerned officers to be alert.
