The Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) – whose presidential candidate is Edmundo González Urrutia – has witnesses for more than 98% of the voting tables for the elections on July 28, Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado assured yesterday.

“This does not mean that we are ready or satisfied. The 600k Platform goes far beyond having conventional witnesses. We continue (…) training people throughout the country,” Machado said in a video that he shared on X, in which he reported that last weekend the “first batch” of witness nominations was made to the National Electoral Council (CNE).

Last January, Machado announced the Platform 600k as an “immense legion” of 600,000 citizens “trained and coordinated,” as “never before done on this continent,” to defend the vote and then called for the creation of campaign commands.

The former congresswoman reiterated her call to Venezuelans to create or register “comanditos” (small groups) for the defense and protection of suffrage by July 28, since -she said- the process of “defending the vote” requires an organized community.

He also asked the members of the polling station to complete the training for the presidential elections at the CNE, print the credential and inform the PUD.

“We need to continue registering those citizens who were selected as members of the board,” he said.

Machado is disqualified from holding elected public office until 2036, so, as she cannot run, she supports González Urrutia’s candidacy for the presidential election, in which nine other presidential candidates are participating, including the national leader Nicolás Maduro.
