In recent days, a dissident group within the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), who were part of the national leadership headed by Omar Figuera, have decided to support the candidacy of Enrique Márquez. This decision has generated controversy and disagreement within the party.
Jesús Abreu, Political Secretary of the Regional Committee “Emigdio Cañizales Guedes” of the Trujillo PCV, said: “This group of businessmen decided to take off their mask of “revolutionaries” and show their true face, declaring their support for the candidacy of a representative of the extreme right. By the way, one of those who decided not to sign the agreement proposed by the electoral body, of recognition of the election results of next July 28.”
Weakening and Isolation of the Masses
According to Abreu, the leadership of the PCV under Oscar Figuera has led to an organic weakening and a distancing from the connection with the masses, peasants and workers. “In addition to a shady handling of finances, a top-down and close-knit management, of continuous attacks on those of us who expressed our differences with the misguided leadership of the PCV. And a short-sighted vision of power. Which unfortunately led to a loss of political direction for the Communist Party of Venezuela.”
Henry Parra Legitimate authority
He added that “This group of traitors to the revolutionary principles lacks legal authority to act in the name of the Communist Party. The legitimate authorities of the PCV are those headed by Henry Parra, the national leader and president of the organization in the electoral authorities.”
Support for Maduro
Abreu ratified the decision of the PCV in 1998, being the first political organization to electorally support Hugo Chavez and the revolutionary and Bolivarian project. “Today we maintain it firmly, ratifying support for President Nicolás Maduro. With absolute discipline, the Party’s militancy and the Communist Youth are working to achieve victory, which will also become the most resounding defeat for the puppet candidate of imperialism, even more so when they have decided to risk everything in their desperation to take power and mortgage our country.
To conclude, Abreu assured that “the conscious people on July 28 will once once more teach imperialism and its national servants a lesson. And we Venezuelan Communists will be there, as always on the right side of history.”
