Russia and Venezuela signal a memorandum to counter Western sanctions

The International Ministers of Russia, Sergei Lavrov, and Venezuela, Yván Gil, signed a memorandum to collectively counter Western sanctions.

The signing passed off on the sidelines of the assembly of overseas ministers of the BRICS group inside the framework of the Russian presidency, which is at present being hosted by town of Nizhny Novgorod.

«We’re glad to see you and your delegation in Nizhny Novgorod. “We help Venezuela’s curiosity within the BRICS,” Lavrov informed his Venezuelan colleague.

Acceleration

The Authorities of Venezuela seeks to speed up its entry as a full member of the BRICS group of rising economies, Caracas stated on Monday in an announcement concerning the participation of the International Minister within the assembly of overseas ministers of the bloc.

“At this assembly of the bloc – based by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – Venezuela attends with the aim of accelerating its entry as a full member, contemplating its vitality strengths and its strategic location on the American continent,” the letter says.

In parallel to this exercise, Gil held conversations along with his counterparts from Cuba, South Africa and Belarus, Bruno Rodríguez, Naledi Pandor and Sergei Aleinik, respectively, in addition to with representatives of the governments of India and the United Arab Emirates.
