The theme of the tenth “Open House Vilnius” is people creating the city. By discovering and exploring architecture, the organizers invite us to think regarding how each of us contributes to creating the face of the city.
“We invite people not only to visit the buildings, but also to discover what architecture tells – in different periods, for different groups of society. It is by expanding the discussion regarding architecture that this year we will also invite to meetings with city developers – architects, urban planners and other specialists who plan the city. This is not only an opportunity for them to introduce themselves, but also to show people behind the scenes of their work,” says Rita Tamulevičiūtė, Open House Vilnius project manager.
This year, 60 buildings will be waiting for visitors, including 48 former members of the program and 12 new buildings. The program presents exceptional examples of high-quality architecture that reveal the character of the city of Vilnius. The guests of the event will also have the opportunity to visit two private residential houses, as well as objects presented for the first time in the neighborhoods of Jerusalem, Pashilaičiai and New Vilnius.
Another innovation of the jubilee event program is an exclusive opportunity to communicate directly with the city’s developers. The creators of the city will invite visitors to meetings, where visitors will be able to get acquainted not only with the results of their creation, but also with the process itself.
During the weekend of the event, the following city developers will open their office doors: Vilnius City Municipality, Ambras Architects Office, Paleko Architects Studio, A2SM Architects, mmap., DO ARCHITECTS, INBLUM, 2L Architects & Engineers, IMPLMNT architects, AKETURI . The program also includes artistic performances
The “Open House Vilnius” program will be enriched by two artistic stories specially created for the event. They will invite visitors to experience architecture spoken through an unexpected artistic form and allow them to see familiar buildings in a new way.
The students of the Contemporary Dance Program of the Ballet Department of the MKČiurlionis Art School and the artistic collective “Eye Gymnastics” will hold their performances at the Vilnius Palace of Culture, Entertainment and Sports.

The students of MKČiurlionis Art School will present the dance performance “Jaunas miestas” created together with the teachers. This artistic narrative is an opportunity to experience the architecture of dance and see how the city is being created by a generation of young artists.
“Eye Gymnastics” presented the performance “Face to Face” specially installed for the Open House Vilnius program. During it, the artists hope to “open” a portal connecting what was and what will be, and opening the gate to a richer, more intense present.

The open architecture weekend is organized by the Architecture Foundation. Open House Vilnius belongs to the Open House Worldwide network, which connects more than 50 cities around the world, and is also part of the Open House Europe cooperation project, which is co-financed by the European Union.
