Great news for Pakistani freelancers

There is great news for freelancers in the country, an agreement has been reached between the Government of Pakistan and PayPal, the company that runs the global money transfer and online payment system.

According to media reports, under the agreement, remittances will be channeled through PayPal through a third party to facilitate in-country remittances.

PayPal operates a worldwide online payment system that allows money to be transferred online and operates in 190 markets around the world.

It should be noted that freelancers and people associated with e-commerce have long demanded that PayPal be brought to Pakistan and former Finance Minister Asad Umar also expressed his commitment to efforts to bring PayPal to Pakistan.

Caretaker Federal Minister for IT Dr. Umar Saif announced the good news of making remittance possible through PayPal in Pakistan.

The federal minister said that the government has solved the long-standing problem of freelancers and has enabled them to transfer remittances through the international gateway PayPal.

Talking to reporters, Dr Umar Saif said that the Ministry of IT is ready to channelize remittances through PayPal as well as other digital initiatives from next week.

He clarified that PayPal is not coming to Pakistan but an agreement has been reached under which remittances will be channelized from PayPal through a third party.

It should be remembered that in 2019, despite the government’s efforts to convince the American company, PayPal refused to introduce its services in Pakistan.
