AMLO justifies dissemination of personal data of the president of Mexicans against Corruption

MEXICO CITY.- This Monday, during his usual morning press conference, the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obradorjustified that because it was a public matter, he disclosed personal data of a possible act of corruption in Pemexlinked to the political analyst Maria Amparo Casar.

“Now that they have released the statement, they allege, instead of delving into whether or not there was corruption, they turn to the Transparency Institute (Inai), which is their creation, to say that privacy was violated. As if corruption is valid, as long as it is kept secret: We must be careful because if it is made known, a serious crime can be committed that violates privacy,” said the president, and assured that this is a public matter. .

“All this helps us to know who is who in the public life of the country, it helps us to know what the limits are, namely, how corruption worked to prevent, so that future generations are not deceived and do not manipulate them,” added AMLO.

He pointed out that the debate is interesting because “conservatism” considers corruption normal when it comes to them, because its doctrine is hypocrisy.

“But there is a kind of alienation in maintaining that, if they are the corrupt ones, they have a license, they can do it, because the corrupt ones are others, and they go to the extreme as in this case, that they establish institutes to combat corruption. It is the control in reverse.”

Presidency of the Republic disseminates personal data

Last Friday following presenting the case, the Presidency of the Republic disseminated the file -without testing- on the death of Carlos Fernando Márquez Padilla Garcíaex-husband of Maria Amparo Casarpresident of Mexicans once morest Corruption and Impunity (MCCI).

In three files hosted on the website of the Presidency of the Republic, hundreds of documents were made public, including the death certificate of Márquez Padilla García, then coordinator of advisors of the Corporate Management Administration of Pemex; María Amparo Casar’s voter ID and personal information regarding her children, such as their academic records, payment receipts, bank transfers, addresses, bank accounts and other documents, which contain personal data.

López Obrador attacked the Inai for initiating an ex officio investigation in the case of María Amparo Casar because, he said, “evidence was revealed that has to do with personal data.”

“These are issues that go beyond elections, because a transformation process seeks to achieve, achieve a better society for the benefit of everyone. It is a process to clean, purify public life, to bring the country out of decadence because we are suffering not from a crisis, but from a decadence,” he expressed.

Regarding those who defended Casar in a writing, López Obrador assured that “regarding 90% live off the public budget.”
