MEXICO CITY.- What should have been a adventure trip it turned into a tragedy that has devastated family and friends of the brothers Callum and Jake Robinson, murdered in Baja California together with his friend Jack Road.
On Sunday, the prosecutor’s office confirmed that the bodies found belong to the surfers who disappeared days before.
Relatives expressed their sadness at the death of the surfers
“It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved teammate and friend, Callum Robinson,” stated Callum’s college team, Stevenson University Lacross.
“From his days leading us to victory on the field to his unwavering commitment to academic excellence, Callum was a true inspiration to all of us“said the club.
The team said Callum played a pivotal role in the team’s Division III National Championship in 2013, and had racked up “equally impressive academic achievements.”
Beyond these merits, the team indicated, “Callum will be remembered for his contagious spirit and his unusual personality. With her gorgeous long hair and charming smile, she perfectly embodied the nickname ‘big koala’: affectionate, kind and always willing to lend a hand.”
He assured that “although he is no longer here, Callum’s legacy will always live in our hearts.”
Callum’s girlfriend, Emily Horwathan American who lives in San Diego, where he played professional lacrosseexpressed his devastation in the brothers’ Instagram posts.
“My heart is broken into a million pieces. You are unique. I will always love you,” she said.
Callum’s brother Jake was a doctor. I had left Australia regarding two weeks ago to attend the Coachella music festivalin California, before crossing the border from San Diego to surfing in Mexico with Jack, as reported by the Sidney Morning Herald. Upon returning to Australia, Jake was to take up a position at a hospital in Geelong, Victoria.
“I can’t stop thinking regarding you, your smile, your laugh, your kindness,” said Jenny Nguy, Jake’s friend.
“I can’t stop crying thinking regarding how your parents feel right now. “You had a bright future.”
“Callum Robinson, Jake Robinson and Jack Rhoad, rest in peace. To your families, the lacrosse community is here for you,” Callum’s team said.
Australians disappear in Mexico
To the Australian brothers and their American friend they were last seen time the April 27. When they did not report to the Airbnb they had booked, the young men’s mother asked for help. Last Friday they were found at the bottom of a 15-meter well near Santo Tomás.
The prosecution believes that assailants attacked the surfers to try to steal the tires of his truck and everything indicates that the young people resisted, so they were murdered. The family identified the bodies on Sunday.
