Why the Atalanta / Roma match will be decisive for qualification…

This weekend will be the 35th day of Serie A and will see Roma travel to Atalanta. A match which acts as a final for Roma if they want to keep their destiny in their hands.

Roma and Atalanta tied on points but…

Before the 35th day, Roma and Atalanta are tied on points with 60 points for 5th and 6th place, but theAtalanta must play a late match once morest Fiorentina. Atalanta might therefore, in the event of a victory once morest Fiorentina, have a 3-point lead before Sunday’s match. We now know with certainty that Serie A will benefit from a 5th place in the Champions League next season.

A victory to remain master of your destiny.

Starting from the scenario that Atalanta will beat Fiorentina and match and retard – the match will be played following the end of the championship, with Atalanta having to play the Coppa Italia final next week then the Europa League final the following week while Fiorentina must play the Conference League final – a victory on Sunday in Bergamo would allow Roma to have 63 points and therefore in the event of a victory for Atalanta once morest Fiorentina to find themselves tied once more.

In the event of a tie at the end of the return match, direct confrontations are taken into account. If Roma beats Atalanta, they will therefore be ahead in the direct confrontations, the first leg having ended in a draw. In this case, Roma would be ahead of the Bergamo team.

With this scenario, Roma would have to face the same result as Atalanta to stay ahead in the standings: 2 wins / 1 win and 1 draw / 2 losses… but be careful, Lazio is only 4 points away and can therefore mathematically get back into the group…

In summary, Roma must achieve 9 points out of 9 possible during the last 3 days to be assured of being in the LDC. Otherwise, it will be necessary to calculate based on the results of others (Atalanta, Lazio or even Napoli).

The scenario allowing the 6th to go to the LDC

There is a scenario in the event of Atalanta’s victory in the Europa League final which would allow Serie A to qualify the team ranked 6th in the LDC. The scenario varies depending on the sources… we will talk regarding it once more soon.
