Asunción, IP Agency.- “The Night of Paraguayan Meat” was held in Santiago de Chile, with a view to strengthening commercial relations and consolidating the leadership of exports of the sector to its most important market and had more than 150 participants, mainly importers and businessmen from the meat.
It was organized by the Paraguayan Chamber of Meat (CPC), with the presence of the Vice Minister of Industry, Lorena Méndez; the ambassador of Paraguay in Chile, Antonio Rivas; CPC incumbents Randy Ross Wiebe; from the National Service of Animal Quality and Health, José Carlos Martín, and from the Rural Association of Paraguay, Daniel Prieto.
The Paraguayan chefs, Leyzman Salim and Gabriel Riveros, ambassadors of the Paraguay Country Brand, presented the “Paraguay experience” to the Andean public through the flavor of their dishes during the event.
On the occasion, a discussion was held on the export of Paraguayan meat to Chile, led by Horacio Borquez, former president of the Agricultural and Livestock Service of Chile (SAG).
Chile is the main destination country for Paraguayan beef exports. In 2023, Paraguay exported 128,761 tons of chilled and frozen beef to that market, for USD 668 million, according to data from the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP).
Workdays
The national delegation that traveled to Chile, headed by the Vice Minister of Industry, developed a busy agenda of work and high-level meetings, including a visit to the facilities of “Novoplast”, a company in the plastics sector dedicated to providing industrial solutions and with presence in Paraguay through the maquila regime.
In addition, they held a meeting at the Chilean Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism and then a work day with Maximiliano Proaño, Undersecretary of the Environment, to discuss collaboration opportunities in the field of the circular economy and sustainable development.
