Outboblog | Lovely with final felling (and “Gökotta”)!

Was at “Gökotta” with the Hembygdsföreningen early morning. We didn’t hear any cuckoos, but it was still nice, where we sat shivering in our down jackets on May 9 and having coffee together.

Even though it is meteorological spring, it is a bit chilly. Defoliation is slow.

I received an SMS the other day saying that this year’s planned felling has started. Once down at the property last night, it was already ready. The harvesters are very efficient!

Trudging around among the piles of lumber and pulpwood.

Nothing smells as good as a freshly felled hygge! Becomes happy!

Just being able to do a felling just because it was time (not because of bark beetle attacks or storm-damaged forest)!

Old spruce forest, regarding 90 years. And the fir trees were old and tired. Increasingly sensitive to dry summers and especially bark beetles – and of course there have been some “bark borer” trees in recent years that we have had to remove, but on the whole a nice and substantial stand.

We waited a few months because it was so wet in the fields, but now it had dried up decently and you can certainly see where the harvester has gone, but the driving damage was minimal.

All that can be enjoyed on this chilly Ascension Day!
